Marcus Camby named in wrongful death lawsuit over autistic nephew’s drowning

Marcus Camby has been named the only defendant in a federal wrongful death lawsuit filed Thursday over the drowning of his 9-year-old autistic nephew in a pond on Camby’s property in November.

Camby’s nephew, Marcus McGhee, was found dead two days after the child vanished from a Thanksgiving Day celebration at Camby’s Pearland, Texas, home.

The boy’s father, Marcus Kendall McGhee, alleges Camby was aware of his nephew’s autism but failed to supervise the child and used no protective measures to keep him away from an L-shaped lake behind Camby’s home.

Although there were no indications of foul play, McGhee’s lawsuit claims that if Camby exercised the most basic of precautions, the boy’s death could have been avoided.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft, Camby, 43, played 17 seasons in the NBA.

Florida’s Dorian Finney-Smith appeared in 81 games for Dallas this season. Former UNLV jumping bean Derrick Jones Jr. played in 32 games for the Suns and was the runner-up in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Wayne Selden Jr. started multiple games in the playoffs for the Grizzlies. None of them were drafted.

When asked how many players on an annual basis go undrafted but have the talent to play in the NBA if given the opportunity and right fit, Cuban said it depends on the peculiarities of the draft. When a couple of teams have a high number of picks, such as Boston with eight picks last year, it changes the dynamics. So does the perceived quality of the talent pool available in a given draft.

No team can draft and add to their roster four or more players, Cuban said. So we knew that would require them to draft players they could stash. Which meant quite a few players that would otherwise get drafted and get a shot for a roster spot would not get picked.

LeBron James dunks on kids at son’s epic birthday party

LeBron James threw an epic birthday party over the weekend for his 10-year-old son, Bryce Maximus. The bash included a custom football field, an intense water balloon fight and a clutch game of basketball.

Ginobili’s 2016-17 season certainly wasn’t up to par with what Spurs fans have seen from him in the past. He averaged 7.5 points per game (a career-low), 2.6 assists (second-lowest average) and 2.3 rebounds per game (tied for second-lowest in his career). That said, if he does retire, he will do so as the NBA’s all-time leader in on-court net rating.

In the playoffs, Ginobili recorded 106 points (including 55 in the Golden State series), 39 assists and 39 rebounds.

When asked whether he had the energy to play another season, Ginobili said that would not be the deciding factor in whether he retires. He also joked that the Spurs wanted him to retire, considering the way they cheered for him when he left the court.

Secondly, it was reported that Ball is now talking to other teams in the draft, but has not yet set up any workouts with those teams in the coming days.

Considering the fact the 76ers and Celtics are reportedly in the discussions for the No. 1 pick, maybe Ball isn’t quite so confident he is a sure-fire lock to go to the Lakers.

As far as the actual workout went, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported it was ‘solid’ after the former UCLA Bruin was reportedly winded from the first workout the team hosted for him.

Lonzo’s second workout with the Lakers went from 8 am until noon today. He went through his whole daily routine with them

NBA Draft 2017: Is heartbreak on horizon for Ball family?

Trent Murphy Authentic Jersey
The Lakers are leaning against selecting Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 overall pick the 2017 NBA Draft, according to Jordan Schultz, the latest basketball writer to report Ball-to-the-Lakers is anything but a done deal.

Ty Sambrailo Authentic Jersey A source of Schultz’s said that if the draft was held today, the Lakers would pass on Ball. The team isn’t convinced he’s a star and remains concerned about LaVar.

LaVar, of course, is Lonzo’s over-the-top father, who has proclaimed his son being drafted by the family’s hometown Lakers is a foregone conclusion.

Telfair was charged with unlawful possession of a ballistic vest, unlawful possession of ammunition magazine, possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operator of a motor vehicle and a motor vehicle equipment violation, according to Fox Sports.

Telfair and Thomas were arrested after police approached their car, at which point they attempted to drive off. This is Telfair’s second arrest in relation to gun possession: He pleaded guilty in 2008 to criminal possession of a weapon after police found him with a .45 caliber handgun under the seat of his car in 2007.

Telfair, a first-round pick by the Trail Blazers in the 2004 NBA Draft, is a former 14-year journeyman in the league, spending time with the Celtics, Timberwolves, Clippers, Cavaliers, Suns and Raptors. He currently plays with the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association.

NBA Finals schedule, dates, TV times for Cavs vs. Warriors III

The 2017 NBA Finals have a familiar look with the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers facing off for the third straight postseason.

Mehmet Kanter was arrested and held for five days after the accusations of being sympathetic to Gullen, a Turkish cleric who was exiled to the U.S.

Dogan News Agency, a private Tukish media outlet, first reported on Mehmet Kanter’s release.

As part of his release conditions, Mehmet is required to continually check in with police.

In 2016, the elder Kanter publicly disowned his son for supporting Gulen, who has been extremely critical of the Turkish government and president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkish officials blame Gulen for inciting a military coup to overthrow their government last year.

Enes Kanter was himself detained at a Romanian airport May 20 because his Turkish passport was canceled, an incident he claimed was a deliberate and direct attempt from Erdogan to seek retribution against Kanter for his outspoken political beliefs.

They’re the champions. We’re not, Kerr said Monday at practice. I saw the quote from Kevin Love. I’m surprised too, like what the hell is everybody talking about? Are you kidding me? They’re a great team, they’re the champs. We’re trying to take what they took from us last year.
Game Womens Tarik Cohen Jersey
Here’s the Love quote Kerr is referencing: The whole underdog thing is funny to me, because, yeah, at the end of the day we are defending our title. We’re trying to repeat, which is so hard to do. I think we will use it as fuel, we will use it as motivation, but the idea of playing into it? It’s tough for me to say that is the case. I don’t feel like we’re underdogs. We match up well with them, and I think they’d say the same about us.

Jacob deGrom was dealing Monday with a 116-pitch complete game in a 6-1 win over the Cubs.

‘All the doctors, all the statistics of everyone saying that I could never play again … They said 70 percent of the guys never play again,’ Graham told co-host Kirk Morrison and me on SiriusXM NFL Radio earlier this week following a Pro Bowl practice at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex.

‘For me, that was earth-shattering at the moment I heard it.’

A previous three-time Pro Bowl selection, Graham already was having a difficult first year in Seattle after being traded by the Saints during the 2015 offseason. His receptions (48) and touchdown totals (two) put Graham on pace for his lowest production levels since his 2010 rookie campaign as the Seahawks struggled to effectively incorporate his skill set into the offense.

Graham then hit rock bottom when his leg gave way trying to catch a TD pass from quarterback Russell Wilson during a Week 12 win over Pittsburgh.

A ruptured patella is actually a worse injury than a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Players who have suffered the former often struggle to regain the same burst needed to flourish at the NFL level. Running backs like Cadillac Williams and Ryan Williams were never the same following surgery.

Jacob deGrom was dealing Monday with a 116-pitch complete game in a 6-1 win over the Cubs. He struck out Cubs catcher Willson Contreras with a 97-mph fastball on the final pitch of the game. The Mets pitcher struck out six and walked four with five hit’s and a home run, but forced four double plays with 13 ground-ball outs.

Braves first baseman Matt Adams had a big city kind of night in Washington. Adams blasted a pair of home runs and went 3 for 4 with a walk and four RBIs against the Nationals. He scored three times, including in the ninth inning as Tyler Flowers hit a go-ahead three-run homer off Matt Albers to give the Braves an 11-10 victory.

Jay Cutler body-shamed on Instagram; Kristin Cavallari comes to his defense

Once again, the Cutler/Cavallari family is dealing with haters.

Youth Munenori Kawasaki Jersey Reality star Kristin Cavallari posted to Instagram a photo of her and her husband, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, on a boat in Mexico earlier this week to celebrate Cavallari’s 30th birthday.

Youth Paul Posluszny Jersey Sporting News also reported last week that the Broncos’ head coaching job was Josephs to lose heading into his interview. Joseph was on the teams radar initially following the 2014 season when the Bengals blocked the Broncos from trying to hire him as their defensive coordinator.

Joseph served out the final year of his contract in Cincinnati before leaving to become the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator. The Broncos instead hired Wade Phillips, whose defense carried Denver to a victory in Super Bowl 50.

Despite the strong play of his unit the past two seasons, Phillips is expected to be replaced by secondary coach Joe Woods if Joseph is hired, Sporting News first reported.

While Joseph is considered a lock within league circles, there is the possibility that tepid local support for his hiring could cause the Broncos to shift to another candidate to replace Gary Kubiak, who resigned last Monday because of health concerns. Josephs injury-riddled Dolphins defense allowed the most yards in franchise history and was butchered by the Steelers in Sundays 30-12 playoff loss.

Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and Chiefs special teams coach Dave Toub already have interviewed with the Broncos.

he is doing so in convincing fashion.

My first response after the head shake was: Dude, do you know how many Latino franchise players there are in the majors? My second was: Talking beisbol does the job just as well.

Youth Isa Abdul-Quddus Jersey The point has been made repeatedly the past two days, but it needs to be made again: The language barrier — the dog whistle Schmidt blew in his interview — didn’t prevent Herrera from leading the Phils with a 4.3 bWAR last season. It didn’t stop management from betting big on him with a five-year, $30.5 million contract. Cornerstone players get such deals early in their careers.

Not only is Smoak on pace to blow those personal bests out of the water, he is doing so in convincing fashion. After blasting two more home runs Wednesday, in a 7-5 win over the Athletics, he already has 17 home runs with 42 RBIs this year, and a cool .291 batting average to boot.

So what is the difference?

Externally there doesn’t appear to be anything different with Smoak. He has always been a bigger guy who looked like he should be consistently hitting 35 home runs.

His approach, however, has changed significantly.

Schmidt’s comments sparked an immediate backlash on social media, and the former third baseman released a statement via the Phillies later in the day in an attempt to quell the controversy. He characterized the response as a misrepresentation of his comments and said he had no intention of offending anyone or of being disrespectful
Herrera signed a five-year, $30.5 million deal in December and is the only Phillies player whose contract is guaranteed beyond this season, so it’s clear the front office views him as a foundational piece as the rebuilding project continues.

Schmidt did allow in the initial interview that Herrera’s exuberance can spread around the team, but cited the outfielder’s recent inconsistency at the plate as further evidence to his overall point.

Now, I truly think he can hit second or first on a championship team, Schmidt said. There’s no question about that.

All of that means Gase can’t totally ignore the upcoming availability of Cutler.

Now Tannehill, a very durable starter over his four seasons, is coming off his first key injury, a partially torn ACL in his left knee. Despite the status of being fully healed, it’s not totally insignifcant for a passer whose athleticism is a big part of his game.

Matt Moore had his moments filling in, but nothing, including his turnover-filled rough playoff start in Pittsburgh, proved he should be more fallback than fill-in for Tannehill.

All of that means Gase can’t totally ignore the upcoming availability of Cutler. More importantly, Cutler should see that familiarity presents his best, most favorable opportunity.

It’s hard for someone who’s been long an unwavering No. 1 — despite long stretches of shaky play — to accept sudden demotion to No. 2. But it’s not “settling” for Cutler. This late in his career, neither having the same contender’s appeal as Tony Romo nor the rebuilder’s desire of Jimmy Garoppolo, practical makes “perfect.”

The 30-year old pop star hinted she might get political during her press conference in Houston Thursday. Gaga said her show will celebrate “inclusion” and “equality” at a time when Americans are deeply divided by politics.

“This performance is for everyone. I want, more than anything, to create a moment that everyone that’s watching will never forget,” she said.

Karma could be at work, too. Thirteen years after “Nipplegate,” the Super Bowl is back at the scene of the crime at Houston’s NRG Stadium. Once again, quarterback Tom Brady will lead the Patriots on to the field at the old Reliant Stadium.

My guess is Lady Gaga won’t be able to help herself. There might be a “Gaga-gate.” We’ll find out how Fox reacts tonight. The NFL declined to comment.

Charles Leno and Bobby Massie return at left and right tackle

For the third straight season, Kyle Long is expected to play a different position on the line (LG) than he did the year prior (RG). Regardless of which sides he and fellow Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton line up, the two can make a legit case as the best guard combo in the NFL. Center Cody Whitehair is a beast in the middle, and he’s backed up by Hroniss Grasu, another capable center who’s coming off an ACL injury.

Charles Leno and Bobby Massie return at left and right tackle, respectively. They provided solidity last year, but the Bears’ reported pursuit of Ricky Wagner in free agency suggests the team isn’t sold at the position.

For what it’s worth, the Bears have decent depth on their offensive line. Eric Kush was re-signed as a do-it-all interior lineman. Tom Compton and Bradley Sowell were brought in as swing tackles.
Authentic Kids Michael Sam Jersey
Game Mark Scheifele Jersey Another year, more fingers crossed as Sammy Watkins battles injury concerns. The star receiver is expected to be ready for training camp after offseason foot surgery, and, as the case always seems to be, his production will depend on his availability. Watkins has left no doubt about his ability when healthy over the last three seasons.

While Buffalo’s draft selection of Zay Jones might seem like Watkins insurance, the second-round pick is an ideal No. 2for Dennison’s offense. The shorter routes on which Jones thrived at ECU will be utilized in Buffalo, and the rookie is talented enough all-around to make plays anywhere on the field.

Andre Holmes, Philly Brown, Brandon Tate and Walter Powell lead a group that will fight for snaps behind the top two receivers, but given Watkins’ injury history, expect the Bills to carry more receivers on their roster than they otherwise would.

White’s prominent role was foreshadowed by what happened in Super Bowl 49.

His performance against Memphis in the second half is probably the best indication of his top-50 value not only as a pass coverage linebacker but as a versatile weapon late in games. Here, he’s able to match-up with a slot receiver, transition in stride and then, after stout coverage, come up and finish in space at the third level as a tackler.

Bowser’s production was on track to reach elite numbers, but his untimely injury put his college numbers more inline with prospects who still still sit atop the current edge rusher position rankings around the internet and around the NFL. He’s a bit of an tweener at this point, but meets all of the measurable thresholds and should test about on par for 3-4/4-3 outside linebackers.
Game Womens Julius Erving Jersey
Even in one of the better defensive end/linebacker classes in recent history, Tyus Bowser merits early round consideration. He’ll be on the second-round radar after the NFL Scouting Combine is through, but his skillset, versatility, and remarkable value for 3-4 and 4-3 teams scream first-round prospect.

White’s prominent role was foreshadowed by what happened in Super Bowl 49. Falcons coach Dan Quinn was Seattle’s defensive coordinator former Patriots running back Shane Vereen caught a Super Bowl-record 11 passes for 64 yards in a 28-24 New England victory.

Game Larry Fitzgerald Jersey “I had an idea I’d have an opportunity to get some catches and runs and whatnot,” White said. “I did not think it would be that many.
